Bird House in My Soul

Warning
Think not of this as sad, but as a thought process. Remember that this is no longer a journal for my life, but a place for my thoughts and ideas

It is never easy to cut off a hand or pluck out a eye (Matt. 5: 29,30). To sever ones own flesh to improve the whole. Every gardner knows that you must cut and trim to get growth. To garden ones own soul is hard work indeed. To weed and plow is one thing, but to uproot plants that have already been sewed is very troublesome. Not only is the labor hard, but it breaks ones heart to see something you thought would bring you so much joy dead, or worst killing the rest of the garden. So up it must come, and new seeds shall be placed in their stead.

Insightful and beautiful. Change never has been easy, nor do I think will it ever become easy. In some instances, the difficulties that come with change are similar to those that Christ must have gone through when He experienced the Atonement. Think about the tears you shed when you struggle through an altering to your life. The anguish and pleading. Christ did those very things as He bled from every pore.

The silver lining to this tragedy? Easy, every child of God has the chance to achieve eternal life. Every child of God. Not a single one will be left behind. Even though we may have to amputate or remove something that has served us well, something better will come.

Referencing my poem, there is a knowledge within all Latter-day Saints that there is something greater than this life in store for us. If we lose someone we cared for more than life itself, it's okay for something better will come. Also, think of Come, Come Ye Saints. Most congregations sing the 4th verse very morosely and solumnly. Why? Where is the jubliation from being done with this troublesome life? It's in the words we read, but not the voices of those who sing. If we die, yes it will be sad for those who remain, but that person is done with all these negative things we experience in life.

It is okay to feel pain. Even Christ did, and to borrow from scripture, are ye more than He?

The real sorrow commons not in death of the body, but that of the soul. I truly feel like the sons of Moshiah {yea, even the very thought that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to tremble and quake}(Mosiah 28: 3) It hurts to think of others as unhappy, it hurts even more when you don't know how to help.

Oddly enough sometimes it's just as hard to change that which you always knew was not good for you. Once you've caved in it's harder to be strong the next time. This was discussed in The Things They Carried. It holds true for everything. That's one reason we will never know the full temptations of the devil. Only Christ does because He is the only one who resisted 100% of the time. The rest of us cave in.
